At MDI, we have developed an orderly procedure by which we plan, design, and produce a web site. 1. Online SignupWe review your information from our online signup form and then based upon your specifications begin the design preparation. 2. Domain Procurment / Design PreparationMDI will spend time gathering information by email, phone, or in face-to-face meetings and will then write a detailed set of specifications for your Web site with scope of services and an estimated time line to complete your project. We will also aide in the procurement or transfer of a domain name at this time. 3. Content GatheringText and graphic content must be gathered before most work can begin on the site. We will assist you in pulling together the text, logo, graphics, and photographs needed for the site, but it's important to be aware that a Web site project does require work on your part. 4. Database Building And Web ProgrammingWhile you're gathering content, MDI will finalize detailed plans for the site structure (the way information is arranged and how navigation will work) as well as for any dynamic (database-driven) applications. Work on databases and data-driven pages can often begin during the content-gathering phase as well. These applications are tested thoroughly. 5. Site Mock-UpNext, we begin working on a site mock-up. The mock-up is based on the needs and preferences you have provided us via our online Web design worksheet. It is then uploaded to a private location on our server where you can view it “live”. You will be able to test and review the navigation scheme, layout and the overall look of your site. Your feedback is solicited and encouraged, and is used to revise and produce a second draft. Once more, your feedback is used to make another round of changes and so on and so forth until you are 100% satisfied with the design. 6. Final Site TestingThe site is thoroughly tested on the actual server. You'll have another chance to review it for any minor changes or corrections, and MDI tests the pages on numerous browsers, on different platforms, and at different browser window sizes and resolution settings, correcting any remaining errors. 7. Site LaunchThe site is then uploaded to your server and is considered "live". We allow five business days after the launch for you to review the site and test functionality. Any errors or functionality problems brought to our notice and considered to be our fault, will be fixed at no cost. After this period, a maintenance contract can be negotiated. 8. Are We Done Now?No! Now is the time to actively promote your site and submit it to search engines. We would also be happy to handle your ongoing maintenance too.
